Access Panel Seals & Battery Covers

We offer a variety of sponges and foams that are used on the access panels and doors of the rail car. These materials are installed to seal panels and doors that are used infrequently, such as maintenance closets, and do not require high tensile strength.

We use our silicones for high temperature areas, such as electrical panels, and for doors that require FDA approved materials as well as FRA requirements for flame, smoke, and toxicity. We also offer our SC-41 Neoprene Sponge as a low cost alternative to silicone where high temperature or FDA approved materials are not required.

Access panels and doors that are under frequent use from constant opening and closing require our 35 AA and Flex 35 solid neoprene that has a high tensile strength of 1,500 to 2,000 psi. These materials can be used to provide  hollow bulb seal extrusion, molded parts, or die cut bumpers. We can also extrude hollow bulb seals in "P" or "D" shapes and then cut the lengths of the extrusion and bond or vulcanize the corners together to form square or rectangular panel gaskets. These types of products have superior strength for seals that will take continuous wear and abuse over time.

Finally, battery cover gaskets are made of the softer sponges and foams since they are not removed or replaced on a constant basis. Our high temperature silicones are used around batteries and electrical panels.
